#SDTip Think Dirty App

SDTip-Think-Dirty-App

I recently stumbled across this amazing app and just had to tell all of you! So here is my #SDTip: The Think Dirty App.

As you know, it’s tough trying to go all natural and chemical free nowadays. I go into a store and spend so long just looking at a list of ingredients on product labels. So one day I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if there was an app that could read labels, and basically tell you which product is chemical free and which are not?! Well I wasn’t the only one…as it turns out when I researched the topic, there is an amazing app that does just that!

So if, you’re like me – trying to avoid parabens, synthetic fragrances and sulfates you have to download the Think Dirty app.

“There are hormone disruptor chemicals in many products that have been possibly linked to breast cancer. I was shocked the cosmetics industry was not regulated like the food and drug sectors. And like most women, my lipgloss and shampoo are products I would never think to describe as “toxic” or could contain cancer-causing chemicals.” Lily Tse, Founder of Think Dirty®

Think Dirty let’s you either scan a product’s bar code or type in a product name and the app will give you all the information about it’s ingredients. There is a rating of 0-10: 0-3 being the cleanest (meaning there are no known controversial or harmful ingredients), 4-7 having moderate long-term health impacts, and 8-10 being products with serious long-term health impacts. Eek! Extra bonus the app also gives you suggestions for similar, but cleaner products.

It’s a super easy app and definitely something everybody needs when they go shopping. I think it would seriously effect someone to see that the shampoo they are using which is labeled with ‘natural oil’ is actually rated 9 on the app, containing crazy toxic ingredients.

I seriously don’t know how I didn’t find Think Dirty earlier! Did you guys find it helpful? Tell me how many toxic items you can find in your bathroom in the comments section below.

Love S,

x
