CHRISTMASSS! one of my favourite celebrations! So excited that I got to go somewhere new this year and that I am able to share it with you all!
Elati, Pertouli and Neraiohori are little villages in the Trikala Prefecture of Greece. It has breathtaking views of the Pindos mountain chain and such an ideal location for a relaxing winter holiday. Full of beautiful nature, hikes, snow activities and yummy flavourful foods.
We stayed at a little wooden B&B Veternik, located at the southern outskirts of Neaidochori. It was pretty isolated, but just what we wanted! Fireplaces, board games, tsipouro, that’s pretty much what we were going for.
One of the things I wanted to do was to find as many stone bridges as I could – apparently, there are 16 hidden in the forest here and there. We had a little adventure trying to find one, gave up maybe 2 hours in because I started freaking out that a wild bear would attack us – little did I know we should have actually been worried about wild boars!
We also got some horses to ride in the forest and had so much fun renting a snowmobile to explore the area.
One of my favourite things to do while travelling to the greek mountains is finding cosy taverns to eat lamb chops. Fits the mood just right.
Overall I was so happy to explore the surrounding area and enjoy the snow while also staying active! I can’t wait to try out other sports like rafting or rock climbing next time!
